Groundwater Contamination Prevention
Development approval was given for the establishment of the Kinross Business & Industrial Estate due largely to the proven ability of HydroCon pipe systems to prevent contamination of groundwater. The estate is situated over the Tomaga Sand Bed Aquifer, a major source of drinking water for Newcastle. A rigorous assessment of water treatment capability was undertaken by regulatory authorities before DA was granted.
Stage 1 development phase required 997 DN500 pipes including 48 terminating pipes. In addition, some lots have required separate HydroCon pipe systems, including accessway, electricity substation and concrete products plant.
